Silas Copeland, Ph.D.

Dr. Silas Copeland leads the varsity football program at Portsmouth Abbey with a focus on defensive excellence and player development. A defensive specialist, Dr. Copeland has extensive experience working with linebackers and defensive backs, emphasizing an aggressive, takeaway-driven mentality. His coaching philosophy centers on the holistic growth of student-athletes, bridging the gap between on-field performance and classroom success. Before joining the Ravens, he played at the Division I level for Kent State University and competed semi-professionally. In addition to his role at Portsmouth Abbey, he serves as an Assistant Director of Football Operations for Breakthrough Elite and brings a wealth of experience from various independent schools across the country.

Jackson Latimer

Jackson Latimer joined the Norwich University coaching staff for the 2025 season, bringing a strong reputation for offensive development and regional recruiting. Latimer arrived in Northfield following a successful tenure at Lake Erie College (Division II), where he served as the Running Backs Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. Previously, he was the Wide Receivers Coach at Endicott College, where he helped lead the Gulls to a Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship and a top-15 national ranking. Latimer also spent two seasons at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy as the Pass Game Coordinator. A graduate of Saint Anselm College, where he was a four-year member of the football team, Latimer combines his playing experience at tight end with a strategic approach to the modern passing game.

Thomas Mosby, Ph.D.

Dr. Thomas Mosby joined the Pacific Lutheran University staff in 2024, bringing over three decades of coaching and educational leadership experience. His career is distinguished by international and collegiate success, including a stint as the Head Coach of the Limhamn Griffins in Sweden, where he earned Coach of the Year honors after leading the team to a national championship. Dr. Mosby previously coached at Washington State University (Division I) and held numerous head coaching positions at the high school level throughout Washington State. An accomplished academic, he holds a Doctorate in Education Administration and Leadership from WSU. At PLU, he focuses on mentoring the Lutes’ running backs while leveraging his deep roots in the Pacific Northwest football community to support player recruitment and academic success.
